About

Aim of the Project

This platform is developed within the Erasmus+ project DOS – Door Out to More Sport for All, which is implemented by an international consortium of camps, sports clubs, and youth organizations from Serbia, North Macedonia, and Croatia. The goal of the project is to foster the participation of young people in sports and physical activities through multi-sport outdoor methodology promoting social cohesion, understanding, and inclusion of disadvantaged youth.

The platform is designed to enable knowledge exchange among stakeholders involved in providing education through outdoor sports to young people. It contains an innovative step-by-step DOS Guide that will enable sports clubs, youth organizations, and camps to integrate outdoor multi-sport methodologies in order to inspire young people to actively engage in sports activities and learn through them. The platform is also home to DOS Network which enables its members to build international partnerships and exchange examples of good practices.

Why outdoor sports activities metter?

Outdoor sports activities can play a critical role in the successful involvement of young people in non-formal education and ensuring that they are having healthy lifestyles. These are some of the key benefits of outdoor sports activities for young people:

  • Improving physical health: Outdoor sports activities provide an opportunity to engage in physical exercise, which is essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle as these activities improve cardiovascular health, increase endurance, and build strength.
  • Improving mental health: Engaging in outdoor sports has been shown to have a positive effect on mental health by reducing stress, and improving mood. They also provide an opportunity for social interaction and can help to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.
  • Developing practical skills: Outdoor sports activities require skills such as coordination, balance, orientation, and agility, which can be developed through practice and training.
  • Building teamwork and communication skills: Most outdoor sports activities require teamwork and communication. By participating in these activities, young people can learn how to work effectively with others towards a common goal, develop leadership skills, and improve their communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Opportunities for engaging in non-formal education: Sport is a universal language and can be used to transfer messages to young people about the importance of inclusion, understanding, and respecting people with different needs or identities.
